FITTEAM Pro-Am Doubles Tennis Tournament

On a cool, clear and crisp January Saturday, more than twenty teams competed at multiple private homes and estates in Palm Beach at the FITTEAM Pro-Am Doubles Tournament for the inaugural competition of the Palm Beach Winter Games.

Representing 10 different countries, the participating tennis professionals at The Palm Beach Winter Games included Wimbledon and Grand Slam Champions, Olympians & former players from the ATP & WTA professional tours.

The competitive, yet fun, round robin matches in doubles and mixed doubles play with four teams at each home playing a total of three, 10-game matches against each other team.

Tennis at the Kessler home featured doubles and mixed doubles play with two-time Australian Open Singles Champion, Johan Kriek with partner former USTA National Grass Court champion, George Loesch competing against the teams of Vince Spadea and Molly Berkens, John Cohlan and Alan Bohane, and former world top ten Lisa Kerkorian and touring pro partner Amer Delic.

Marked by quality points and excellent doubles play the team of Kriek and Loesch emerged undefeated in the competitive and close competition.

Play at the Tananbaum house featured former French Open Singles Finalist, Mikael Pernfors along with fellow UGA bulldog, Jim Braden competing against Alan Scheuer and Diego Ayala, Louis Kreissberg and Eric Prodon and host Steve Tananbaum paired with American star, Robert Kendrick.  

In super competitive round robin play, the team of Tananbaum and Kendrick emerged undefeated with Kreissberg and Prodon a close second.

Tennis at the Van der Grift home featured South African tour player and Israeli Davis Cup star, David Schneider paired with golfing legend, Greg Norman.  They competed against Bolay and Outback Steakhouse founder, Tim Gannon with partner, WTA tour veteran, Ann Grossman.  Rounding out the teams were tour player Adam Fass and Ben Gordon with host Paul Van der Grift and partner Wilander on Wheels star, Cameron Lickle.

With Norman and Gannon only competing on the Saturday, the competition came down to the match of Fass and Gordon against Lickle and Van der Grift with Fass and Gordon winning a competitive match.

At the Kosoy home, matches where highlighted by Wimbledon Champion and British tennis legend competing with partner Kelly Canavan.  Fellow American legend, Eddie Dibbs joined First Serve board member, Woody Gardner against the other teams of former French touring pro, Cyril Saulnier with Kristen Ray and Russian star Alex Bogolomov Jr. who partnered with Barbara Mueller.  

After six, tough and lengthy matches the team of Bogolomov Jr. and Mueller emerged undefeated.

Steve Tananbaum – Robert Kendrick defeated George Loesch & Johan Kriek in a tight and exciting 3 set match.


Alex Bogolomov – Barbara Mueller defeated Scott Maslin & Don Johnson

fee of $7,500 donation to First Serve, a 501 (c)(3) charity includes  tickets to the Opening Ceremonies Cocktail Party and the Sports Night Gala events.
